Overwatch's next hero is Doctrine, as Doomfist makes his storyline return

Doomfist's demise has been greatly exaggerated, as he's made his return, along with a new playable friend.

The BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony addressed the future of Overwatch, revealing the game's next character. Doomfist had been in hiding since the Reign of Talon events that unfolded earlier this year, but he's back now with a new ally, the vampiric fiend known as Doctrine.

Doctrine brings a slew of exciting new abilities into the battlefield. His scepter can heal his teammates while damaging enemies. He has drones that will heal teammates while also giving Doctrine a bit of a speed boost. His moves can undergo a new look through his Infuse ability, which will transform whatever he does next.

Doctrine will be playable on the BlizzCon showfloor throughout the weekend and will be available to all players in October as part of Overwatch's Season 5.
