It’s almost time to start another week, but before the Sunday Scaries take over, why not take a moment to sit down and catch up on what’s been happening over the last few days. We’ve grabbed all of the top news stories, shows and reviews for you, so they’re easy to find in one place. Here’s the weekly roundup for September 14th-20th.

News:

Monday:

Monday brought a mix of industry intrigue, updates and delays. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma paid a visit to Kojima Productions, while speculation suggested that Wonders of O could be the sequel to Lies of P. Kingdom Hearts prepared to make its way into Fortnite, WARDOGS rolled out a server browser-focused patch, and both Rayman Legends Retold and Marathon‘s latest content suffered delays.

Tuesday:

Tuesday was dominated by Xbox and hardware news, with a rumour suggesting that Game Pass could lose its signature “Day One” releases early next year. Microsoft also revealed September’s second Game Pass wave, headlined by Gears of War: E-Day and Minecraft Dungeons 2. Elsewhere, details emerged for Steam Frame’s full specs and pricing, Sony unveiled new PlayStation Pulse planar magnetic headsets, and the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light was delayed into next year.

Wednesday:

Wednesday delivered both new releases and some less welcome industry news. Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember received a confirmed release date alongside a playable demo – along with our preview – while Madden NFL 27 received its third major title update. Heart Machine, the developer behind Hyper Light Drifter, reportedly laid off most of its studio, while Horizon Forbidden West and Helldivers 2 were delisted from Steam in the UK, with Sony investigating the matter with Valve.

Thursday:

Thursday was packed with announcements from Tokyo Game Show, including a busy Xbox showcase and confirmation that Astrae Oratio will launch in 2027. Kojima Productions revealed Bill Skarsgård as the lead in Physint, while Mads Mikkelsen took centre stage in a new Modern Warfare 4 trailer. Valor Mortis confirmed its $40 price and Deluxe Edition, and Gears of War: E-Day officially went gold, with PC specifications and pre-install details also revealed.

Friday:

Friday rounded out the week with more crossover content as PAC-MAN goodies arrived in Fortnite, while DC: Dark Legion launched its “Echoes of the Batcave” event. Xbox outlined the games arriving on its platforms between September 21–25, and Kojima Productions pushed back against recent reports surrounding the company, stating that the studio remains in a “healthy, profitable state.” Lastly, it looks like Microsoft may be introducing Mythic Achievements to rival PlayStation’s Platinum Trophies.
